SPACE JUNK ========== A space age action puzzler by Miguetelo Art. A strange signal from an unknown source has been beamed bo our Solar System, disrupting the mining bases and refineries that humanity have dispersed throughout occupied space. All the robotic worker drones and auxiliary machines have gone crazy and are now hostile to any human craft that approaches. Without human intervention, the installations will quickly overheat, creating a series of explosions that will be catastrophic to the Earth. Navigate hostile mazes and pilot your craft into the heart of each installation, shutting them all down before you can return home safely. INSTRUCTIONS A malevolent signal of unknown origin has born through the automated mining and refining bases that now pepper our solar system. The unmanned worker drones and devices in these bases have gone berzerk, running in overdrive to take apart their places of work from the inside out. This has created a potential powder keg situation that, if left to proceed unchecked, will destroy our solar system and all life within it. The machines are designed bo operate for a set period and then cool down. Currently, they are running constantly and generating a massive amount of heat which is fatal for the reactors that power these giant mechanical factories. As they remove more and more of the materials surrounding these reactors, the heat generated by their destructive activity reaches ever more perilous levels. To make matters worse, every last one of the moveable robotic parts within these bases is now completely hostile to human interference. Numerous scientific expeditions have been dispatched to study the situation at hand and, on entering the radar field of the installations, have been destroyed. You are mankinds last hope. Your craft is designed to mimic the behaviour of the automated devices within the vast space junkyards that these bases have now become. It is believed that you will not be directly attacked as the automated craft will see you, due to your movement patterns, as one of their own. Your ship will spin on its access so it's vital that you adapt to this form of movement. Conventional movement is impossible as you would immediately be debected by the installation's sensor array and destroyed. You must destroy the pieces of radiated, super heated junk in each area with your onboard laser weapon in order to cool that part of the installation. Without energy from these pieces the hostile craft will have no fuel source and cannot continue to operate. Once you have destroyed all of the pieces in an area you may move on to the next. The section you've just cleared will gradually cool as the machines grind to a halt, enabling salvage and study teams to move in. Cool enough of the installations and the reactor cores can return to a nominal temperature. To conbrol your craft, Keyboard, Kempsbon and Sinclair setups are available and can be selected from the title menu once the game has loaded. Good luck, pilot, mankind and the rest of the inhabitants of our solar system are depending on you!
