In case if you wondered, Janosik (spelled Yanoseek in English) is a mountain folk hero, very popular in Poland and Slovakia even today. He was a highwayman a bit similar to Robin Hood or Spanish bandoleros. Taking from the rich, giving away to the poor, loved by locals, you know the rest. As for the game, the plot isn't very original, he has to rescue his girlfriend, kidnapped and kept in the dungeons by an evil voivode. The game is a platformer where you have to complete 3 levels by going from left to right, avoiding and killing enemies. Janosik is armed with his ciupaga - a combination of mountain walking stick and an axe. He can use it to fight angry bears and haiduks - the voivode's henchmen. Every other enemy encountered by Janosik must be avoided by jumping over it or by other means. There are also platforms which you can stand on but be careful, while they move, you must move with them. There is a pattern in enemy movement at each screen, the key to complete this game is to learn this pattern and wait for a proper moment. The game was inspired by the Polish game with the same name written in the early 90ties for Atari 8-Bit and Amiga. http://www.mobygames.com/game/janosik I took the idea from them but the code, level design and 90% of graphics are mine. The rest of graphics is conversion from Atari. The music is taken from the web, it was written by some Alex Heather. Thanks friend, whoever you are. The game controls are O - left P - right Q - jump Space - attack Z - pause (press Space to unpause) X - restart Playing with Kempston or Sinclair Joystick is also possible The game participated in Polish game compo at Wapniak 2013 party as an only Spectrum game, fighting against some Atari 8-bit games. I can proudly announce that it won the 1st place in the compo. Have fun!
