Pokes

Let's explain straight at the beginning what Pokes are actually about. If you had a look at the word POKE itself in a dictionary, you'd discover that one of its meanings is "to modify something". And this is exactly what "poke-ing" a game means. POKE is one of Basic commands to modify the values in ZX Spectrum RAM. It takes on the syntax POKE address, value where address denotes the number of memory cell to modify (ranging from 16384 to 65535 as RAM has 48k size), and value represents the new value this cell should contain (ranged from 0 to 255 as cells are conceived as bytes).
How to enter pokes in emulators
These sites are linked to the Spectaculator emulator. Download it as we will demonstrate the Poke command on it.
1. Press File -> Open to load a game which content should be modified.
2. Press Tools -> Poke Memory to show up the following window.
3. Put the byte address and byte value into the address and value textboxes, respectively. Then click the Apply button. Repeat this step until you have changed values of all requested bytes.
4. Close the window by clicking the Close button. Now you may enjoy playing the modified game - it probably will be smoother and easier to complete it with infinite lives, energy, or time.
Finally a short note: All game pokes offered on these sites are confirmed to work properly. Whatever you get from outside these sites is on your own risk . The ● sign delimits pokes obtained from different resources and these pokes are best non-combinable. The "X" letter is a placeholder for a value from range 1-255, unless stated otherwise.
